third period, ten o’ clock

While teachers droned on and textbooks were handed out like a procession that dulled even the most interested minds, we passed notes when the teachers weren’t looking. You and your hidden talents became exposed to me as you sketched me sitting, my chin in my hand, trying to stay awake on a rainy Monday morning. I opened the note gently, and looked over at you to say thank you, but your head was down again and you were scribbling furiously the notes on the board so that you could catch up for a moment or two. Then, you peacefully went back to sketching, and I saw you looking over at me every now and then and I would catch your eyes and blush. I made sure that none of my friends suspected anything. What would they say? They judged you since day one, and they would not be able to budge from their standings. But, me? All pre-misconceptions disappeared and I became entranced with you. After all, I was your subject and I wanted to glisten in your light.
